Melda Karahan founded Metastarter and writes every article published on it. The work is editorial rather than promotional: each piece begins with a question a newcomer actually asks, and finishes when that question has been answered honestly, including the parts of the answer that are inconvenient.

The subjects covered are the general mechanics of blockchain systems: how a distributed ledger is put together, what a block and a hash actually are, how different networks agree on a shared history, where the vocabulary comes from, and which widely repeated claims do not survive a close reading.

The editorial position is deliberately narrow. Melda Karahan does not give financial, investment, legal or tax advice, does not evaluate or recommend products, services or companies, and has no commercial relationship with any protocol, application or brand described in an article. Where an article names a product, it does so because readers search for it by name, not because Metastarter is connected to it.

Editorial standards

The rules below are the ones the publication holds itself to. They are short on purpose, because rules nobody can remember are rules nobody follows.

Explain before asserting
A term is defined the first time it appears. If a sentence cannot be written without a word the reader has not met yet, the word gets a definition rather than a link elsewhere.
Say what is uncertain
Where something is contested, still changing, or dependent on a reader's own circumstances, the article says so instead of flattening it into a confident single answer.
No recommendations
Articles describe how things work. They do not tell anyone what to buy, hold, install, sell or sign up for, and they do not rank or score anything.
Corrections are visible
When a factual error is found, the article is corrected and its update date changes. Every article shows the date it was published and, where they differ, the date it was last revised.
No third party edits the text
Sponsors buy a placement on the page. They do not see articles before publication, cannot request changes and have no influence over which subjects are covered.
